James Talarico Wins Texas Democratic Primary

With more than 1.2 million votes, State Rep. James Talarico has won the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate in Texas.

“This is proof that there is something happening in Texas,” Talarico told supporters in Austin just after midnight on Wednesday.

In the Republican primary, incumbent John Cornyn and Ken Paxton failed to garner even 900,000 votes or the 50% majority needed to secure a spot.

“Tonight the people of our state gave this country a little bit of hope,” said Talarico. “And a little bit of hope is a dangerous thing.”
